Email Discussion Lists

The Learning Round Table has three official email discussion lists.

Learning Round Table Email List:

  • Purpose: To share information among the Learning Round Table membership related to training, staff development, and Learning Round Table news.
  • Who should join: All Learning Round Table Members as well as anyone interested in training, learning, and staff development.
  • Do I have to be a member: No this email list is open to anyone.
  • How to join: Details on how to join the Learning Round Table Email List are below.

How to Subscribe to the Learning Round Table Email List

  1. Go to the Learning Round Table list page http://lists.ala.org/wws/info/learnrt and choose the Subscribe link from the left side of the page. Enter your email address. Leave this window open.
  2. Go to your email account. You should receive an email from SYMPA with the subject ALA Mailing List Service.
  3. Open the email and retrieve the password.
  4. Switch windows and go back to the Learning Round Table email list page. Enter the password. Click Subscribe and you will be subscribed to the list.

Tips:

  • The email address and the password you just entered are your ALA Mailing List Service log in and password. ClickYour Preferences on the left side of the page to change your password or email address.
  • The lists you are subscribed to are listed on the left side of the page. Click on learnrt to change your subscription options, view archives, or unsubscribe.
  • Subscriber Options lets you change the way you receive mail from the lists (digest, normal, nomail, etc.).  The “nomail” option, for example, allows you to continue to be a member of the list without receiving any mail—a great option for vacations or medical leave periods.
  • To send an email to the list make sure you use the same email account you subscribed from. Send the email to learnrt@ala.org and the email will go to all members of the list.

Learning Round Table Business Google Group

  • Purpose: For those actively taking a leadership role in the Learning Round Table to communicate with each other about the status of projects and programs.
  • Who should join: All Learning Round Table members who are currently involved with projects/programs or want to get involved–or simply want to watch the sausage being made. This is an open list and we invite you to participate or simply lurk.
  • Do I have to be a member: No this email group is open to anyone.
  • How to join: Go to http://groups.google.com/group/LearnRT-Biz or enter your email address below. It is important that you follow the steps to tell us who you are so we can approve your membership to the group. We’re taking extra steps to eliminate spam to this account.

For current board members only. Click here to see who is currently subscribed to the list.

  • Purpose: For Learning Round Table Board Members to communicate with each other.
  • Who should join: This is a closed list. Members are added when they are elected to the Learning Round Table Board.
