The American Library Association Learning Round Table
Mission
The Learning Round Table:
- Promotes quality continuing education for all library personnel.
- Helps library staff network with other continuing education providers for the exchange of ideas, concerns and solutions.
- Serves as a source for continuing education assistance, publications, materials, training and activities.
- Advocates for quality library continuing education at both the local and national levels.
History
- Formed outside of ALA in the 1970s to study continuing education for libraries.
- Became an official ALA Round Table in 1983 as CLENERT (Continuing Library Education Network and Exchange Round Table)
- Became the Learning Round Table of the American Library Association and changed name to LearnRT in 2009
- More than 500 members representing all types of libraries including public, academic, school, special, and consultants to libraries
Membership

Programs
The Learning Round Table offers programs and pre-conference sessions at the ALA Annual Convention, ALA Midwinter Convention, and PLA National Convention.
